Motley Crue/New Tattoo(2000)

The 90s were kinda brutal for Motley Crue…

QuickTime Line…..By Deke…

1992- Vince Neil (singer) gets canned!

1994-Crue release what I would consider there second best album (after the debut) in the self titled Motley Crue or as I call it Motley Corabi  featuring John Corbai as the new singer.. Album and Tour Flop!

1997-Corabi gets the Boot. Sleazy Vince returns and the Crue release Generation Swine(Flop #2) which I consider a better record than most others but  doesn’t really do much sales wise!

1999-Tommy Lee splits and is replaced by Randy Castillo(RIP)….

So at the start of the New Millennium( 2000) Nikki Sixx dusts off his Dr Feelgood Leather Trouser’s for one more kick at Hair Metal  Throne Of Yesteryear to see if there’s another shot  at Success…

And Guess What Folks?! This one kinda fuses out but there are a few good ones here….

Now for me at the time I bought all this stuff the day of or the week of when new releases would come out….I would play the album non stop of course but over time some fall to the wayside and New Tattoo does.

Having not listened to this album since 2000 pretty much I’m gonna steamroll through some tracks and to be quite honest let’s see how my memory holds up….

Hell On High Heels- Pretty decent track. I thought it was a typical throwback Crue tune which would have fit nice and snuggly on Side 2 of 1987’s Girls/Girls/Girls album. These are the kind of tunes that Motley could excel at but by this time not too many were caring. Motley raised the Musical Bar High(and probably drank it dry) on the 94 Corabi album. There playing on that album is phenomenal to say the least as they went from Chucky Cheese Rock of Dr Feelgood into a Music Blender stuffed full of Pissed Off Feelings mixed with a slab dose of Dirty Grunge tunings and no one Fuckin cared! Except Myself/Robbo and Tbone!

Treat Me Like The Dog I Am- No dice Amigo….

New Tattoo-The Title Track and well …….Next

Dragship Superstar- Oh Boy a pattern is developing here…

1st Band On The Moon-Ah …Sixx reaches down into his Musical Bag of Trixx and nails off a Gem! This has those 80s Trimmings of a Kewl Chorus. Go figure as Sixx is the lone co writer on this song. Perhaps he should have taken a few more years and just wrote the album himself.

She Needs Rock n Roll- ?

Punched In The Teeth By Love- I wish Nikki would have had this title back in the Crue’s 80’s Heyday and used Punch In The Teeth By Love and written a Power Ballad for it and placed it once again on Side 2 of the Girl’s album and taken off that Your All I Need track. Yeah that one where it Sounds like Vince has taken his cue from Mr Stanley from KISS’s 1984 Album Animalize and sung in the Highest Vocal Registry possible. Hey don’t bash me I actually like Animalize but man Stanley sang so high-pitched on that album my cat went bonker’s……Since were keeping score here…I have no idea what this song is about but what a  Great Fackin Title!

Hollywood Ending-  For $1  Alex (Trebek) I’m thinking Ballad? Can’t recall….

Fake- I like this track. Sixx writes whats Fake around him. Fake People/Fake This/Fake That. Great Sludgey like tune, Dirty Crue  even Vince sounds Sleazy Good on this track, They should have called the album Fake/Fake/Fake.

Porno Stars- No recollection of remembering this tune Judge Judy.

White Punks On Dope- This is an Iggy & The Stooges cover and I don’t even know how this tune goes…..

I’m sure there are some out there that Dig this album and for that I Salute You! Seriously I do…

For me …Man it’s on my iPod but I skip it all together. Maybe I’m being a tad harsh but cut me some slack man I littered Sixx’s and The Crues pockets full of dough through the 80s into the 90’s so if its  dud  I’m calling  ya out on it!

If anything the titles on this album are Cool! Sixx though was trying to keep the Crue afloat by  putting out product and touring. By the time  the tour rolled around Castillo got Cancer and had to give up his drum stool….I think Ladano reviewed this album so check out all the Nitty Gritty Details over at his site……

I even bought the new Crue album  Saints of Los Angeles.

See! Bands still can put out mediocre at best stuff and I will still stick around. I’m Kinda like the Dude who doesn’t  know when to leave the party after everyone has left and all you wanna do is sleep off your Late Night Drunkenness…

Party’s Over So Get The (Bleep) Out!

Kiss/Rock N Roll Over(1976)

Since It’s Halloween Today …Ummmm  How About Another KISS Review….???

Gonna try to keep this one short but when it comes to my fav KISS studio albums my TOP 3 would look like this..

1-Alive…..2-Rock N Roll Over….3-Creatures Of The Night..

Yeah I know Kiss Alive is a Live album(cough/cough) but we all know the deal as it was tweaked merciless in the studio but on any day of the week if we’re actually talking about studio albums I could flip between Number 2 and 3 all the time….

Starchild/Demon/Space Ace & Petey The Cat belt out some decent Kiss N Roll….

The Song’s…

1. “I Want You” Paul Stanley  3:04
2. “Take Me” Stanley, Sean Delaney  2:56
3. “Calling Dr. Love” Gene Simmons  3:44
4. “Ladies Room” Simmons  3:27
5. “Baby Driver” Peter Criss, Stan Penridge  3:40
6. “Love ‘Em and Leave ‘Em” Simmons  3:47
7. “Mr. Speed” Stanley, Delaney  3:18
8. “See You in Your Dreams” Simmons  2:34
9. “Hard Luck Woman” Stanley  3:34
10. “Makin’ Love” Stanley, Delaney  3:14
Total length:
33:18

Ah Man… I miss those under 34 minute albums and Rock N Roll Over delivers as Kiss teams up with producer Eddie Kramer and everyone roll’s up there sleeves and get down to it…

Stanley shows up with 5 tracks the best being Mr Speed that has a real cool like opening Riff and even though it’s a rock track it’s got a different vibe than say Take Me which is your typical Stanley straight ahead Goofy lyric rock track but on those day’s when its Goofy Time Take Me fill’s a void as it’s a Crash Course  in C#*K Rock.

$immon$ throws his 4 cents in with 4 pretty good rock tracks and he’s no ballad Guy well maybe the lyrics to Dr Love are about as close to a ballad as you could find but nice use of the cowbell on this track and Gene’s other tracks Ladies Room/Love Em Leave Em/See You In Your Dreams are just your simple straight ahead Chick Tracks! Not Rocket Science here Folk’s but catchy never the less!

The most interesting  track here has to be Hard Luck Woman written by Stanley but sung by Peter Criss who sounds like Rod Stewart and this is a well crafted rock track with nice acoustic playing with Criss’ drums propelling the Kiss Ship forward.

Speaking of Criss. He even gets his own tune here.  Baby Driver which is an ok track but still to elbow something on here with the Gene and Paul show calling the shot’s is saying something unlike Ace Frehley who did not contribute anything song wise but still plays some real good lead guitar on Rock N Roll Over….

Cooped Up In Wisconsin!

The Coop loses his head…..

Alice Cooper was opening for Iron Maiden in the summer of 2012 through out North America. My younger bro Todd scored us some kick ass Vip Seats for the Copper/Maiden show in Cadott Wisconsin on July 21 2012…so today it’s the opening act Coop and Wednesday, the headliner IRON MAIDEN…..enjoy….

So for my first time seeing Cooper live it’s outside in Cadott,it’s sunny,it’s 6pm and it’s 92 degrees in the shade! A perfect setting for a Coop show right? Hahaha….

So we get the Vincent Price spoken word intro and boom where into The Black Widow and followed quickly by Brutal planet! Coop even though he is opening he’s bringing the stage show with him and me and Todd are pumped I mean it’s Coop,he’s God knows how old,he’s dressed in black,it’s fuckin hot out and the dude is giving his all!

What a top notch band he has with him on drums Jonathon Mover (filling in for regular skins smasher Glen Sobel) Chuck Garric on bass,Tommy Henrikson on guitar,Ryan Roxie on guitar and the Copps secret weapon on third guitar Orianthi!

Coop has a talent for having backing superior musicians and man check out Orianthi on the vid I posted, man can she play and she took centre stage on many the the Coop songs….she can flat out rock!

Third song in and now it’s time for the classics beginning with Under My Wheels,Billion Dollar Babies and  No More Mr Nice Guy!

Alice and the band now plough forward to a newer  song of his I like (well 1991 if that’s new to you)and that’s the title track from Hey Stoopid(love the opening line of “hey bro take it slow your not living in a video”) Is it My Body and Halo Of Flies(10 minute tune )is swated at us and the whole band goes off into super jam mode and these gents and one lady can hold it down!

Classic Muscle Of Love is dropped next and boom were into Orianthi’s guitar solo and Yep my peeps she is the only one in the Coops posse to get a solo spotlight! Good for her and good for the Coop! She deserves it…

Feed My Frankenstein also from Hey Stoopid is cranked out and here comes the Coop Prop Frankenstein chases and Alice sprints off the stage and this proves the Ol bugger Alice can still run short distance pretty damn fast!

One of Alice’s MTV hits Poison is played and it’s a good rock track and the crowd loves it …..I mean this tune whether you like it or not put the Coop back in the Loop of the public eye back In 89. I mean he could have sapped out a song like Fallen Angel by Poison (no pun) to get people’s attention hahaha….

Wicked Young Man is played and followed by I love The Dead and the Coop literally loses his head in this one! This as a fan is what I’m waiting for it must have been sumthin else to have seen the Cooper live in the the 70s when he was hanging himself, chopping his head off, withering around in his strait jacket than again  if I had seen those shows back in the early 70s I would be about 60 years old now! Hahahaha….

Schools Out is jacked out to the masses and what a finale to his show!

Coop comes out for a encore and that’s Elected waving the American Flag and he introduces his whole band and gives them there due for a job well done!

Wowzers man,me and my bro Todd  were blown away by the Coop! I mean for my first time seeing him live and it’s at supper time haha, (6pm)its pretty cool cuz when you think of Coopers live show you think of a dark arena  but the Coop delivers it full throttle and man what a great cast of musicians with him,not a slouch among em!

17 songs played……now that’s a Theatric Rock Show Friends!
